When Soccer Meets Purpose:

The People Matter Project & Ottawa Blizzards Join Forces

On September 21st, the Ottawa Blizzards Soccer Academy teamed up with the People Matter Project to host the very first PMP Free Soccer Clinic Powered by OBS— a community event designed to make soccer accessible for all.

Held at Ottawa Christian School in Barrhaven, the clinic welcomed 20+ registered participants between the ages of 9 and 13 for an afternoon filled with learning, teamwork, and fun. For some, it was their very first time stepping onto the pitch. For others, it was a chance to build on their existing skills and share their love of the game with new friends.

Breaking Barriers Through Soccer

At Ottawa Blizzards, our mission has always been bigger than the scoreboard. We believe in soccer as a tool for growth — building character, confidence, and community. Yet, we know that for many families, access remains one of the biggest challenges.

Through the incredible support of the People Matter Project (PMP), this event broke down those barriers. PMP covered field costs, snacks, and logistics, ensuring that every participant could attend at no cost. Together, we were able to deliver a quality soccer experience that parents could trust — and kids could truly enjoy.

A Day of Growth and Fun

Our coaching team focused on introducing and reinforcing soccer fundamentals while keeping the energy light and engaging. The session included:
⚽ Physical literacy and agility drills
⚽ Ball control, passing, and dribbling exercises
⚽ A friendly small-sided game to finish strong

Every child left with snacks, drinks, and a small gift bag — along with new memories and new friends.

Looking Ahead

This event marked the first edition of what we hope will be many more free community clinics across Ottawa. It’s just one of the ways we’re working to make soccer more inclusive — providing opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders to grow through the game.
